The role of football leg pads

Feb 16, 2023

Shin pads are designed to protect the shin of the lower leg, also known as shin pads. Due to the high confrontation of football game, the probability of players being kicked to the shin is very high, so it is very necessary to wear a suitable leg guard plate to protect their shin in the game. Physically speaking, leg pads disperse and cushion the impact that would otherwise be applied to the lower leg. The space between the leg pads and the leg pads acts as a buffer, as does the skin between the leg bones and the leg pads, preventing fractures.

If a player is not wearing a leg guard, there is a high risk of fracture of the tibia or fibula when a strong force is applied to the lower leg. In severe cases, it can lead to fracture of the thigh bone or tear of the cruciate ligament in the knee.

It is clearly stated in the football regulations stipulated by FIFA that football players must wear leg pads made of plastic, rubber and other similar materials that provide certain protection, and the leg pads must be completely covered by football socks.
